Winery Coombe Farm
Region Yarra Valley
Coombe Farm combines the provenance and heritage of Coombe the Melba Estate with cool climate Yarra Valley fruit to create small batch wines of exquisite complexity.
Just 5km north of the Melba Estate, the 120-acre Coombe Farm vineyard is one of the oldest in the valley, and is still owned and operated by the descendants of Dame Nellie Melba, the Vestey family. Having supplied grapes to some of Australia’s most recognised producers, an increasing portion of fruit is now being grown and selected specifically for the Coombe Farm brand.
The Coombe Farm cellar door, located at the Melba Estate, offers stand up tastings, platters and light lunch options or simply a leisurely afternoon of wine and croquet in the infamous ‘hedge’ area. The newly launched Petite degustation tasting experience offers an unmissable indulgence – a tutored tasting of four wines with seasonal bites paired to match.
Indulge our Premium Petite degustation tasting experience in our exclusive members area with your own dedicated host. This tasting includes two of our exclusive Tribute Series wines, served from large format Plumm glassware. Each wine is carefully matched with an individual bite, prepared by Head Chef Neil Cunningham.
Our Cellar Door team are the heart of the operation, bringing a wealth of personality and experience to the bench. Between them they have covered all corners of the Valley and traversed the wine regions of the world, bringing expertise in winemaking, local tourism and above all else, amazing hospitality.
Xavier has been with us from the start, cultivating the vineyards over a decade ago and overseeing the brand to what it is today. He was the first to see potential for top quality sparkling wine in the site and was the driving force being the Nellie Melba Blanc de Blancs brand. From time to time you may see him in the cellar door, sharing his cuttings or providing blow by blow updates on his crops.
